Criminal Productions Inc. Files Virginia Lawsuit Against Internet User Accused of Downloading Movie “Criminal”
Criminal Productions Inc. is suing internet users alleging they used BitTorrent to illegally download the movie “Criminal” starring Kevin Costner and Ryan Reynolds.
On January 22 2017, the movie company filed its first lawsuit in Virginia federal court. The case is Criminal Productions, Inc. v. Doe 1, case number is 1:17-cv-00079.
The Defendant is “Doe 1” because the movie company only has the IP address of the internet account that was allegedly used to download the movie. There is little doubt that soon it will ask the court for permission to issue a subpoena to reveal the name and address of that internet subscriber for that IP address.
