Strike 3 Holdings Files 7 More Federal Cases

Strike 3 Holdings, LLC has filed thousands of federal copyright infringement lawsuits over the past few years. They target individuals alleging that they, or someone at their home or office, illegally downloaded their adult film content without paying the appropriate licensing fees using a file-sharing software like BitTorrent.

Most recent Strike 3 Holdings filings

On Friday, December 13th, Strike 3 Holdings filed 7 new cases in Federal Court. Recently Strike 3 Holdings had filed cases in Florida state court, which many argued was an inappropriate use of Florida’s “Pure Bill of Discovery”. However, with these new filings it seems they have reverted to federal court filings and included the following statement in a case filing:

“In an effort to conserve Federal judicial resources, Strike 3 originally moved to
discover Defendant’s identity utilizing a state court procedure in Florida where Strike 3’s infringement detection servers are located. Defendant objected asserting that the action is more properly litigated in the federal court of his or her domicile. Because Plaintiff is amenable to litigating the matter in either forum, this suit was initiated.”
