Countryman Nevada LLC – Not Done Yet

Share

Countryman Nevada LLC, a copyright plaintiff active in the early part of 2014, has shown  it isn’t quite ready to go away just yet.

A new case against 11 John Doe defendants was filed in Colorado, a jurisdiction that hasn’t seen any action from this copyright holder since June. John Doe defendants have been targeted in Florida, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. However, none of these jurisdictions have been active since March.

The new case is Countryman Nevada LLC v. Does 1-11 14-cv-02832

Like each previous federal lawsuit filed by Countryman Nevada LLC, the company alleges these as-yet anonymous Doe defendants illegally downloaded the movie “Charlie Countryman” using BitTorrent or similar peer-to-peer file-sharing programs without paying the appropriate license fee.

To date, this company has filed 30 total cases against 641 John Doe defendants. The largest numbers of cases have been filed in Colorado and Illinois, accounting for over 90% of the defendants.

It is not a good idea to download the “Charlie Countryman” movie using BitTorrent or similar software.  If you are a parent make sure your children are not doing this; if you have roommates make sure your roommates are not doing this, as being a target of a federal lawsuit like this over a movie download is not fun, not fair, and is avoidable.
