August Has Been a Busy Month for Cobbler Nevada LLC

Nearly a thousand people have been newly targeted by Cobbler Nevada LLC this month.  Cobbler Nevada LLC. is filing federal copyright infringement lawsuits involving the film “The Cobbler” and is actively filing lawsuits  in Colorado, Illinois, Michigan and Oregon in addition to those previously filed in  Texas and Wisconsin.

In August, 7 cases were filed in Colorado, totaling 228 John Doe defendants. In Illinois, 238 individuals have been targeted in a total of 10 cases. Michigan had the largest number this month with 419 John Does involved in 17 different lawsuits. And in Oregon, 3 cases were filed against single John Doe Defendants and 1 mass doe case was filed against 11 “anonymous users of Popcorn Time.” All of these John Does can expect to receive a letter from their ISP notifying them of the litigation in the coming weeks.

Most of the Oregon lawsuits have been filed against single Doe defendants by Attorney Carl Crowell. However, one multiple Doe lawsuit was filed in Oregon against Anonymous Users of Popcorn Time. In Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Texas and Wisconsin, multiple Doe lawsuits have been filed by Attorneys Scott Kannady, Michael Hierl, Paul Nicoletti and Keith Vogt.

Like other BitTorrent peer-to-peer file-sharing cases, Cobbler Nevada LLC accuses defendants of copyright infringement by using software and the internet to obtain the film “The Cobbler” without paying the appropriate license fee.
