How did Strike 3 Holdings identify me if they don’t know what my name or address is?
Each internet connection has a unique IP address that is specific to that internet connection. Using a variety of methods and technology, Strike 3 Holdings was allegedly able to track the illegal downloads of their content to your IP address.
Once Strike 3 Holdings has your IP address, they can do a ‘reverse lookup’ and figure out who provides the internet to your home (Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, Cox, etc.). By knowing both your IP address and your internet provider, Strike 3 Holdings filed a lawsuit in Federal Court or Florida State Court accusing that IP address of copyright infringement and asked a judge for permission to send a subpoena to your internet provider. Jeffrey has concentrated in civil litigation throughout his legal career, and is a member of the federal trial bar of the Northern District of Illinois, the Central District of Illinois federal court, and all federal courts of Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana. In addition, he is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. Jeffrey prides himself on his strong personal ideals, passionate, ethical advocacy, and working hard to bring the best possible results for his clients.
