Strike 3 Holdings and Discovering You’re Being Sued for Copyright Infringement:
When I first received the letter from my ISP that I was being sued for copyright infringement I thought that it must be a mistake. A scam or something. These kinds of things have not happened to anyone that I know.
Strike 3 Holdings was saying that some of their movies were downloaded and distributed by the IP address that I own. Not knowing the names of or how many movies this was I couldn’t understand what was going on. When I googled the penalties for copyright infringement I was petrified.
I was only given 2 weeks to file an objection.
After much research I decided to ignore it, thinking that they may not bother going after me. But after a week I started to really worry that if my ISP gave my name and address to Strike 3 then I could be in serious trouble. And then they would have my identity. And I am not one to gamble.
That’s when I looked up attorneys that have handled these cases before. I decided to go with Jeff Antonelli and his law firm after seeing nothing but excellent reviews.
I first sent Jeff an email explaining my situation. He answered it very fast. Much to my surprise.
I then talked with Jeff about my case. The free consultation really impressed me and talking to Jeff was like talking to one of my best friends. He calmed me down and relieved a ton of stress. He was very compassionate and didn’t promise anything ridiculous like getting this dropped or telling me it wouldn’t cost me anything. But was hopeful that the settlement would be something I could afford.
He charged a flat rate which I agreed to after deciding to retain Jeff as my lawyer. Jeff will not say one fee and then later charge you more. Some lawyers do this from what I understand. Trying to settle this on my own with people that I knew nothing about was just too scary.
The case ended up being settled for much less than it could have been. I won’t give figures but when you are facing a possible fine of thousands of dollars and you don’t have that kind of money it can be extremely stressful.
I would recommend Jeff and his law firm to anyone who is going through this. Normally I may have talked with a few lawyers but I had such a positive vibe when talking with Jeff I just felt like he was the best lawyer for this situation. People like Jeff are the ones that can give lawyers a good name instead of the other way around. More lawyers should handle things as honestly and efficiently as Jeff does.

Jeffrey Antonelli is a member of the federal trial bar of the Northern District of Illinois and is admitted to numerous federal courts around the country. He has been a civil litigator nearly 25 years in a broad range of actions representing corporations and individuals as plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court. Jeffrey has been interviewed by the media many times, including Bloomberg BNA, NBC, The New York Times, Chicago Lawyer, Chicago Tribune, and the longstanding lawyer’s publication Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. Prior to forming Antonelli Law Ltd. in 2007 Jeffrey worked for several litigation boutiques in Chicago’s Loop as well as a full service firm. During law school Jeffrey immersed himself in studying the practical and public policy aspects of health care through internships at the American Medical Association in Chicago, and on Capitol Hill at the Governmental Relations Office of the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, DC. Jeffrey has concentrated in civil litigation throughout his legal career, and is a member of the federal trial bar of the Northern District of Illinois, the Central District of Illinois federal court, and all federal courts of Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana. In addition, he is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. Jeffrey prides himself on his strong personal ideals, passionate, ethical advocacy, and working hard to bring the best possible results for his clients.
