A Warning About Using Popcorn Time

Share

We recently were contacted by someone who received a notice from their ISP that a subpoena was issued demanding their identity be released in connection to a federal copyright lawsuit alleging illegal BitTorrent use to download a movie.

This person’s father adamantly said “no one in this household uses BitTorrent.”  The son chimed in, stating that he “streamed the movie with Popcorn Time.”

BE WARNED: Popcorn Time, according to Wikipedia and other sources, uses BitTorrent and thus exposes the user to potential liability for thousands of dollars in damages under the US Copyright Act.
