The Northern California Record reported that a Strike 3 Holdings case filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Oakland Division, has settled. The case was settled anonymously, so the defendant is still only identified as John Doe.
Strike 3 Holdings filed the complaint on December 7, 2017…
And the case was settled on March 5, 2018 for an underdetermined amount.
Strike 3 Holdings had originally sued John Doe for more than $150,000 for allegedly using BitTorrent to download their films without paying for them.
Strike 3 Holdings distributes adult films through Blacked, Tushy and Vixen on through both websites and DVD sales.
Their complaint states that the illegal download of these movies caused revenue losses, and that they used IP address geolocation technology to find John Doe’s IP address.
One of Strike 3 Holding’s co-owners, Greg Lansky, said “We send on average 50,000 DMCA notices a month but it does virtually nothing to stop the rampant copyright infringement. The only effective way to stop the piracy of our movies on BitTorrent networks is to file lawsuits like this one.”
Strike 3 Holdings Gets Anonymous Settlement
On January 17, 2018, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley found that the plaintiff had “good cause” to serve a Rule 45 subpoena to Comcast for the name and address of John Doe based on the defendant’s IP address.
On March 5th, Judge Scott Corley issued an order of dismissal for the case, as the court had “been advised that the parties have agreed to a settlement of the case.”

Jeffrey Antonelli is a member of the federal trial bar of the Northern District of Illinois and is admitted to numerous federal courts around the country. During law school Jeffrey immersed himself in studying the practical and public policy aspects of health care through internships at the American Medical Association in Chicago, and on Capitol Hill at the Governmental Relations Office of the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, DC. Jeffrey has concentrated in civil litigation throughout his legal career, and is a member of the federal trial bar of the Northern District of Illinois, the Central District of Illinois federal court, and all federal courts of Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana. In addition, he is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. Jeffrey prides himself on his strong personal ideals, passionate, ethical advocacy, and working hard to bring the best possible results for his clients.
