On September 18, 2017 Badhouse Studios, LLC filed 13 federal copyright infringement lawsuits against internet users of Spectrum (Time-Warner Cable), Verizon Fios, and Optimum Online in the District of New York federal court, Southern District. The movie company alleges these internet users illegally downloaded the movie “Larceny” using BitTorrent software. We expect this movie company to file similar copyright infringement lawsuits across the country.

Set up a free consultation to discuss the specifics of your case, or keep reading below for more information on what you can expect from your case with Badhouse Studios LLC.

The New York case  is the first case recorded for Badhouse Studios, LLC. Badhouse Studios is the copyright holder for the film Larceny, starring Dolph Lundgren and released in 2017.

On September 22, 2017 Judge Edgardo Ramos ordered Badhouse Studios to appear before the court on October 19, 2017 regarding the movie company’s request for subpoenas to be issued that would require Spectrum (Time-Warner Cable), Verizon Fios, and Optimum Online to provide the names and addresses of subscribers allegedly involved with the movie’s copyright infringement.

We will provide an update upon the Court conducting the pre-motion conference and entering an Order.

Have you received a Summons or Subpoena from BADHOUSE STUDIOS, LLC?

Your first notice of the lawsuit will probably be a letter from your internet service provider (ISP) like Comcast, Cox, Verizon or AT&T, and a subpoena from BADHOUSE STUDIOS, LLC . If you have, contact the experienced defense attorneys at Antonelli Law for a free, confidential consultation by calling us at 312-201-8310, or by using our confidential contact form.

Why have I received this ISP Notice?

The ISP letter and BADHOUSE STUDIOS, LLC  subpoena probably relate to a federal copyright infringement lawsuit alleging that someone in the home or office illegally downloaded “LARCENY” using file-sharing software such as BitTorrent.

Is it real?

Yes, and ignoring the subpoena will reduce your options to fight it. Typically you only have two weeks to a month to file a motion to quash or vacate the subpoena.

Can I get out of it?

Once you’ve received a subpoena, there are three options available:

  • Resolve anonymously (Read about settling here)
  • File a motion to quash before it gets to court (Learn more here)
  • Prepare to fight it in court. We are experienced litigators who fight back vigorously.

In some cases, people who receive the ISP notice will not be served with a summons, but only receive a letter from the movie company’s lawyer.

We’ve helped nearly 2,0000 clients across the US resolve their cases and can help you figure out the best course of action for you.

How much will it cost?

  • Most cases are resolved out of court. Our flat legal fee is $750 – $1,000 for anonymous settlements (Settlements typically range between $3,000-$5,000 based on a national average unless a significant financial hardship is documented.)
  • Want to fight it? We charge an hourly fee and can explain what to expect during our free consultation.

What do I do now?

  • The best thing to do is to speak with an experienced ISP Subpoena Defense Lawyer. This is a swiftly changing area of law and we continually follow the latest developments. What Are These Lawsuits About?

BADHOUSE STUDIOS, LLC  accuses defendants of copyright infringement by using software such as BitTorrent and the internet to obtain the film “LARCENY” without paying the appropriate license fee.

The BADHOUSE STUDIOS, LLC  lawsuit is one of many “free movie” download cases we see, which are sometimes called “copyright troll” lawsuits or BitTorrent lawsuits. BitTorrent is a common software people use to illegally obtain movies online.

Critics of these lawsuits say it’s about the movie company generating more revenue. The movie company says it is filing these lawsuits to stop piracy of its intellectual property.

Hiring Antonelli Law Is No More Expensive than Hiring a Local Attorney in Your City

Antonelli Law’s numerous federal court admissions, local counsel affiliations, and the nature of federal lawsuits allow us to effectively and cost-consciously represent you in your copyright infringement defense, no matter which state you live in – and no more expensively than a local attorney.

We are able to represent you in your federal case without being more expensive or more difficult to hire than hiring a local attorney because federal courts require attorneys to file their papers electronically, and often conduct hearings by telephone. This makes frequent trips to the courthouse unnecessary. Also, we normally do not charge for airline flights or flying travel charges. Clients pay only for the normal travel time to the courthouse any local attorney would charge.

Finally, we have affiliated local counsel in a number of states who can appear in court on an expedited basis when necessary. We will, of course, be in court personally when necessary such as non-routine hearings or a trial.
