Strike 3 Holdings LLC lawsuits continue to climb in the third quarter of 2018

According to a recent article published on Law360, Fox Rothschild LLP filed 448 copyright lawsuits in the third quarter of 2018. The majority of those cases were on behalf of Strike 3 Holdings, a porn production company which distributes its content through the subscription-based websites Blacked, Vixen, and Tushy.

“According to data compiled by Lex Machina, the Philadelphia firm continued an all-out campaign on behalf of Strike 3 Holdings LLC, an adult film studio. Fox Rothschild has filed more U.S. copyright cases than any other firm in each of the last four quarters, mostly for Strike 3; over the first three quarters of 2018, the firm has filed a staggering total of 1,322 new cases.

The spike in cases is particularly unusual in that it has come from Fox Rothschild. Mass-filed lawsuits against John Doe porn downloaders are nothing new, but the firms that handle that kind of work — which can sometimes draw the ire of federal judges — are usually the kind of little-known shops that make up much of the rest of the list, not BigLaw powerhouses with more than 800 attorneys.

BigLaw or not, the firm’s efforts for Strike 3 are beginning to reach historic proportions. Much of that spike can be attributed to Strike 3, which, with the help of Fox Rothschild and a few smaller firms, filed a total of 1,653 new cases through the third quarter of 2018. Over the entirety of 2017, the studio filed 228 new cases.”

What to do after receiving a Strike 3 Holdings LLC subpoena

Your first notice of the lawsuit will probably be a letter from your internet service provider (ISP) and a subpoena from Strike 3 Holdings LLC alleging that your IP address was used to download content online without the proper licensing fees. This was most likely done using a file-sharing software such as BitTorrent. Usually, once you have received this notice, you will have 30 days or less to determine how you want to handle the lawsuit.

The best thing to do is to speak with an experienced ISP Subpoena Defense Lawyer like the ones at Antonelli Law about your options. Our attorneys are experienced in the field of copyright infringement and continually follow the latest updates. We have representation in states across the country and can represent you in your case against Strike 3 Holdings LLC.
