ME2 Productions Inc., the copyright holder of the movie  “Mechanic: Resurrection” starring Jason Statham, Jessica Alba, and Tommy Lee Jones is suing many COX Communications and CenturyLink internet subscribers in Nevada federal court in Las Vegas. ME2 Productions Inc. is represented in Nevada by attorney Chaz Rainey.

But Magistrate Judge Nancy J. Koppe Ordered that ME2 Productions, Inc. show cause why the defendants in the case should not be severed.

And, in the meantime while that issue is being resolved, on May 10th Judge Koppe Ordered that the ISPs who had been subpoenaed to turn over the names and addresses of the internet account holders not provide this information:

The Court hereby ORDERS the recipients of the subpoenas not to provide the subpoenaed information pending resolution of the order to show cause. Plaintiff is further ORDERED to immediately serve a copy of this order on the recipients of the subpoenas, and to file a proof of service so indicating by noon on 5/12/17.

On May 11th, ME2 Productions duly filed the following certificate of service indicating it had served the ISPs with the court’s Order (CenturyLink, COX Communications, and Charter Communications) . Cert of Service re Order on ISPs

Unfortunately, this appears to have been too late. At least according to one caller to Antonelli Law in case number 17-cv-00723 they already received a settlement demand letter from Hamrick & Evans attorney Chaz Rainey about the ME2 Productions  lawsuit.

What Are These Lawsuits About?

ME2 Productions Inc., the copyright holder of the movie  “Mechanic: Resurrection” starring Jason Statham, Jessica Alba, and Tommy Lee Jones is suing many COX Communications and CenturyLink internet subscribers in Nevada federal court in Las Vegas alleging they illegally downloaded the movie for free. The movie’s plot involves rescuing Jessica Alba’s character when she is kidnapped.

ME2 Productions Inc. accuses defendants of copyright infringement by using software such as BitTorrent and the internet to obtain the film “Mechanic: Resurrection” without paying the appropriate license fee.

Critics of these lawsuits say its about the movie company generating more revenue. The movie company says it is filing these lawsuits to stop piracy of its intellectual property.

So far, users with internet accounts of the following ISPs are being targeted:

Don’t Sign a Waiver of Service of Summons Form Before Speaking with an Attorney

Many people are being targeted in these lawsuits by ME2 Productions.
