Did You Get a Letter From a Malibu Media LLC Attorney? Free Consultation With Antonelli Law Defense

Share

Have you received a letter, summons, or subpoena from  a lawyer representing Malibu Media LLC? If so, you need to contact a lawyer experienced in the special type of litigation employed by Malibu Media, which is sometimes referred to as BT (BitTorrent) copyright litigation. Others call it “copyright trolling” litigation.

Malibu Media LLC has sued thousands of people across the United States in recent years for downloading its pornographic movies on the internet without permission, it alleges.

For the last few years, those people who were about to be sued would only receive one warning as to what was about to happen: receiving a letter from their internet company informing them a subpoena to reveal their name and address was received. The letter informed the internet account holder that they could try to prevent their name and address being revealed by filing a motion to vacate or quash the subpoena. Soon afterword, the defendant would get a knock on the door and “get served” with court papers by a process server.

Malibu Media Now Sending Settlement Demand Letters

At least one lawyer working for Malibu Media LLC, Henrik Mosesi, and perhaps others are first sending a letter demanding money to settle the claims before the defendant’s name is publicly revealed in the lawsuit. For example, a Malibu Media attorney sent a settlement demand letter to this innocent woman:

Malibu Media LLC settlement demand letter
Malibu Media LLC Defendant’s affidavit re settlement demand letter

Other attorneys working for Malibu Media LLC who may be sending similar settlement demand letters and the state they are located in:

  • Henrik Mosesi                       California

  • Joel A. Bernier                       Michigan

  • Jacqueline M. James          New York & Connecticut
  • A. Jordan Rushie                  Pennsylvania

  • John Carlin Decker, II        Virginia

Who is Malibu Media LLC Anyway?

Malibu Media LLC  owns the X-Art.com website and alleges the people it sues are users of BitTorrent file-sharing technology that are illegally obtaining and sharing their copyrighted movies for free. Significant questions have arisen regarding the methods the company’s agents employ in order to obtain the IP addresses of the lawsuits’ defendants.

Antonelli Law is the most experienced BT copyright defense firm in the country and represents clients nationwide.

Each lawsuit is filed in federal court and requests permission to find out the real names of internet users associated with IP addresses suspected of being part of the movie downloading. This is done by sending a subpoena to the internet company (ISP). Most people find out they are involved in the lawsuit when they receive a letter from their internet company (ISP) such as Comcast, COX, Comcast, or Verizon informing them of the copyright infringement allegations. A copy of a Subpoena will probably be enclosed.

If you are the account holder for an internet service provider (ISP), your name is linked to an IP address. If you receive an ISP letter or email informing you a subpoena was received to reveal your identity for a copyright infringement lawsuit, call Antonelli Law nationwide about your options including a motion to quash the subpoena at 312-201-8310.

Subpoenas and summons can be scary or inconvenient, but we can help you manage the risk and the hassle.
