Dallas Buyers Club Files Again in Texas

Share

On July 24 2014, Dallas Buyers Club LLC filed four additional federal copyright lawsuits in Texas, targeting 100 unnamed Doe defendants.  These new lawsuits brings the total number of people targeted in Texas to 176, and nationwide to 2,910 in Dallas Buyers Club LLC lawsuits.

Most of the defendants live in Houston, but others are located in  Cypress, Deer Park, Richmond, Humble, Sugar Land, Katy, Pasadena, Spring, and  College Station. All 100 defendants are alleged to have used the same SHA -1 file.

Texas was the first state Dallas Buyers Club LLC lawsuits were filed, in February and March 2014. Here are the new Dallas Buyers Club LLC lawsuits:

Texas

Like each previous federal lawsuit filed by Dallas Buyers Club LLC, the company alleges these as-yet anonymous Doe defendants illegally downloaded the movie Dallas Buyers Club using BitTorrent or similar peer-to-peer file-sharing programs without paying the appropriate license fee.

Its is not a good idea to download the Dallas Buyers Club movie using BitTorrent or similar software, especially in states like Texas where Dallas Buyers Club LLC is actively suing.  If you are a parent make sure your children are not doing this; if you have roommates make sure your roommates are not doing this, as being a target of a federal lawsuit like this over a movie download is not fun, not fair, and is avoidable.
